Thursday, August 30, 2007 yea guides, i really hope all of you understand y we actually punished u in the past. aft taking over the company, it is our dream n hope to bring guides to a greater height. we r really trying veri hard, pushing ourselves to the limit. looking at the sch montage in the past, u will see guides always get silver. even scouts overtake us le. so we r really trying our utmost best to to bring up the discipline n everything. we dun want other UGs to laugh at guides n say we r slack. im sure u all dun like to hear tt as well rite. so now tt corporate punishment is banned, to tell u the truth, im really disappointed. im really veri afraid tt wadever we've done in the past will go to waste if the standard drops. its like we juz started to improve n now...... u noe even the teachers say tt we've improved. we were so happy to hear tt. it really made us veri veri proud of u all. everyone is participating more actively than before and the discipline is so much better. so even though corporate punishment is banned, i hope all u ppl will remind ur fellow guides to hav self discipline n not get worse ok? pls dun let all our effort dis past 4 months n 30 days go down the drain. i noe tt i cannot expect everyone to love guides the moment they r in dis cca, but i really hope tt u all will make the best out of it when u r in here. lets all strive to get the PNA gold next yr ok. finally show all the other UGs wad guides is really made of. so although we hav stopped guides for the EOYs, i hope all of u can use dis break to revitalize n come bac to guides with a whole new unbreakable spirit. :D lets start afresh once we come bac! we cannot do it alone, so all of u muz help us, make guides better. together, helping each other along the way, i believe we will definitely become better. let the IP batch of guides clinch the GOLD!!!! together we will make it!! Charlotte Wednesday, August 29, 2007 last act, is the official act that we banned punishment. actually, i dun really noe whether that is a good thing.. someone told me that guides will sure be very slack and other UGs will condemn us.. but, this doesnt really matter anymore, or does it? emily told me that everyone tink of punishments as a valid reason for why we shouldnt make mistakes.. is lik u ask, "y should we not make mistakes?" ppl will reply, "cos later will get pumped ma!". i dun deny the fact that i tink tat way before, but gradually u will get to noe it's not.. but emily sae mayb i am the only one that tinks so.. yea.. i realised that i cant force ppl to tink lik me.. u all are not me, how can i expect that of u all.. i always tot that i am supposed to improve guides.. but it jus seems that i taken the wrong approach.. really very sorry ppl.. very sorry.. we hav always knew that punishments should be banned.. but we just refused to implement it.. if you really understand, u will noe the reason for doing so.. guides hasn't been a very disciplined group for a very long time.. and it's lik my dream to instill discipline in you all.. and when we finally took over the company, i am really very happy, very very happy.. but now, this dream jus seemed to drift further and further away.. let me tell a story here.. a child and his mum were strolling in the park one night.. the child saw the moon and reaches out for it. he extends his hand further each time, tinking that he will be able to touch the moon as long as he trys hard enough.. ppl are lik this.. they always try so hard even though they noe that the truth is so far from reality.. today is exactly 4 months and 29 days since handover ceremony.. and the guides management diary has 4 pages of offence by 60 ppl since then.. mayb you all dunno y am i telling u tis.. but if u compare to previous years.. u will see how great the difference is.. but.. i tink the diary will jus end here with a fullstop using my pen ink.. during june hols, i still went to decorate the cover page of the diary tinking that how nice will it be to pass it to the next batch with a nice cover page.. but now, it just serves as a memory of the past.. last act, there's so many things i wanted to say.. but they jus disappeared the moment i wanna say.. i feel lik crying but i didnt.. cos that morning xiuyi jus messaged me and tell me dun breakdown during guides.. and i replied WONT LA! today xinyu told me this too.. she said that as a leader, i shld take this easy.. i oso wish that i can.. i noe it's time for me to do sth abt it.. guides is not only abt getting pumped.. i wanted to let u all noe it's more than that.. but, i jus cant seemed to get myself to it.. it will be so deceiving if i sae that guides will be able to improve on discipline without punishments.. it's not that i dun trust u all.. but.. i dun really noe wat can i do.. can someone tell me how.. i always tell u all that self discipline comes from within.. but how are u going to have self discipline when you dun even hav the concept of it.. mayb to u all, discipline is jus another term that we commonly used and it is made up of punishments.. but it really depends on you, each and everyone of u.. i sincerely hope that u all can rmb wat we told u.. we went thru so many things.. from handover to thinking day, camp galore, ticket sales, carnival, amazing race, art and craft competition, hillary challenge, west division day, campfire preparation and ndp.. we laughed and we cried.. it's part of me, and part of u too.. it's sth that we share and it's sth that we wont forget.. everyone is trying so hard for guides, doing ur best for competitions, not folding your socks, run to fall in lik there's monster behind u, cheering for ur fellow guides, not talking back to ics, actively volunteering for events, and many many more.. even a slightest effort u made is greatly appreciated.. thank you.. when there's a will, there's a way. we wont get defeated by this slight change one rite?!! we can do it without punishments and we will do it even better than with punishments!
