Monday, March 29, 2010  Saturday, March 27, 2010 Hi guides, There are some quite impt announcements to make. (1) West Division Day is on 5 June 2010, so please keep this day free. (2) Mdm Ong is planning to invite nanyang guides to teach us canvas tent skills. The date is not confirmed yet, it may be cca or non-cca days. And, it can be one or more trainings. We need about 8 to 10 ppl, anybody interested and can commit and come find me or the seniors. I will collate everything latest by next tues. So if you are keen, please tell me latest by tues. People who are going for training would have to, maybe stay back, and teach the others after that, so pls be mentally prepared. (Urgent) (3) On thinking day rehearsal at Changkat Changi (19 Feb), who didnt go? Coz we need to confirm ur attendance. We will ask again on Tuesday, but you can start recalling whether you did go. (Urgent) (4) There is a UG O-CIP this year. Many details are still not confirmed, but it will be a 4 days 3 nights trip. It will be to Cameron Highlands, and only 10 ppl can go. This is open to all. This is not so urgent so we will talk again when there are more details. (5) This concerns the 10 ppl doing initiatives. We decided that since we are doing one inter-unit initiative, we might as well do 2. Because one inter-unit initiative is 3 points, and the max we can get is 10 points. 2 inter-unit, and we get 3 points, then there will be 2 remaining unit initiative. If we were to do 1 inter-unit and 4 unit, then we will have an extra point, but u all have to put in much effort to do the initiative. So, it would be maximising ur efforts this way too. I will approach the ppl involved during the weekends to settle this thing. Another thing is, pls edit ur proposal such that it fits into the format given. I will email this 10 ppl the doc. Must bring ok, coz we need to hand in the money when we collect the shirt. So, we need to collect it during CCA tml. Thanks. Amanda =)  A few announcements: 1. Patrols doing the flagpole are to report at 2.45pm sharp outside the Guides room. Those who wish to learn how to attach the flag, please be at the grass patch area by 3.00pm. I'll only be teaching once, so if you miss it too bad :p 2. I know that the Year 2s are having your aesthetics programme. Please report to CCA after your aesthetics programme. You do not have to change into 2nd U since you are in your PE attire. Don't have to wear skirt. But you will tuck in when you come for CCA. 3. This is an announcement from your TCs: The enrolment test will be held this friday, so year 1s please study for it! If you have any questions feel free to ask the TCs. 4. This is a reminder: remember to submit your reflections to your PLs by 2359 tomorrow. You can choose to give her in hard copy or soft copy (soft copy will be better). (:Priscilla Thursday, March 18, 2010 Haro Guides! I am suddenly inspired to write a blog post here. Yup. Here goes.. Well for a start.. I am not here to rant about UG camp..bla bla bla. Just want to do a quick summary about the camp and write down more about how I feel about our CCA (: I can say that for this year's UG camp.. it was more of a mental training instead of a physical one. As all of you should know(okay maybe not the sec 1s), this year's camp is the slackest UG camp that I've ever been to. Then why? Why? WHY do all of you still get so much scolding from the seniors on the last day of camp? This is basically a reverse psychology. If the camp is more focused on the intensive physical/discipline aspect, all of you here would definitely have more sense of urgency/behave better. However, what we wanted to observe during this year's UG camp is how true leaders, even during the slackest condition? (if there is such thing), would still hold firm onto the values that the seniors had passed on to them (which in this case, is your sense of urgency/being able to run from one place to another without any reminders/time louder during punishments/etc). This UG camp definitely helped us to identify the true leaders in guides ( I am not particularly referring to anyone, if that's what you are thinking now. Actually there are a few that the seniors identified.) So many of you would say:"Ha. Ha. There are only 3 months left. So how are you going to help all these people that you've identified?" The answer is simple: We would not tell you. Therefore, I want to encourage each and everyone of you, especially the sec 3s, to not be complacent and satisfied about who you are now/how you behave during cca. As for the juniors, Sec 1s especially, please try to treasure these 3/4 (not 3 quarters! -__-) years with your level mates/cca mates. I hope that you guys understand why we are so strict during the camp. And also, one thing that we must stress is the basic respect for one another. It's kind of disappointing to see that you do not respect us. I hope that you do what you have said in front of all the UGs during your performance for Candlelit Night. I can say that I am really proud of the sec 2s. Please continue to be passionate about guides and get closer to one another. Any thing that you are unhappy about with each other, please thrash out okay? I am beginning to sound as if I am writing a will here. Alright. I shall conclude my short/not short post here. I think towards the end of this post, I ran out of brain juice and inspiration, thus my inability to write more. Pardon me and God bless each and everyone of you. (: P.S. Please think about what I've said in this post and reflect on yourself with a mirror. If you don't have one, getting a pig is a good way to own a mirror and a pet at the same time. Alright. For our game on Friday, each level (except for year 4s) will need to bring the following: - Set of clothes (home clothes) --> as glam as possible e.g. dress - Shoes --> also as glam as possible - Make-up set (including things for removal of make-up) Each level one of each can already. EACH LEVEL ONE EACH! If your whole level don't have make-up set, please tell me by tomorrow night.
